When I was younger, I remember my teacher asking me what I wanted to do when I grew up. When I was young I knew I wanted to be a doctor. That's what all kids say when they're little, right? When an adult asks a child what he would like to be, he would give him one of the simplest answers: a doctor, a policeman or a teacher. Growing up I still wanted to follow my dream. For as long as I can remember I have always dreamed of working in the medical field. I think volunteering at the veterans hospital made me want to pursue this goal even more. I knew that becoming a pediatrician was my destined career. I like working with children and helping people is my passion. In a few years I see myself working at Yale Hospital, which is located in New Haven, focusing on children who suffer from special needs such as autism. Then I realized that I wanted to be much more. I returned to my first professional goal: becoming a pediatric doctor. Since then, becoming a pediatrician has been my goal. I went from wanting to be an average “doctor” to specializing in the medical field. I always knew I wanted to work with children. Teaching was perfect for me, but I couldn't let go of my dream. So, I soon put the two together, I would become a pediatrician who works with both children who suffer from disorders and those who don't; this was my plan. Growing up in a family with a sister who suffers from autism made me admire my sister's pediatrician. She was a woman who was passionate about her work and did whatever it took to make sure her patients were safe. I wanted to be just like her, helping her in any way I could. This is what made me confident in being a pediatrician, the passion I felt for helping children live their lives and pursue whatever goals they set for themselves. I looked at it as everyone deserved a chance at life; and if I could help someone pursue their dreams, then that would become mine
