People compete for scarce resources. Bias and discrimination are used by companies that need people to work for them. If workers started going on strike, demanding raises and benefits. They will target other racial and ethnic groups that need jobs such as African Americans and Latinos. As in today's society, people think that Mexicans look for jobs because they don't care what the job is in terms. This is a type of prejudice and is discriminated against because they get jobs that people don't want to do. The reason is because they have no money and need a job. Companies use reserve workforces and divided labor markets. Reserve labor forces are unemployed people just like immigrants. Divided labor market where, as whites know, there is someone who wants to take their job, and black Africans perceive Latinos as competitors for their jobs. Prejudice manifests itself very subtly in companies at the top and uses discrimination to prevent people from rebelling by dividing themselves across racial and ethnic differences.
