The second character analyzed by Fitzgerald is Daisy Buchanan. Daisy is married to Tom Buchanan. Daisy is the definition of a dream girl, she is smart, gorgeous and just the ideal woman to be with, and the relationship between her and Tom is quite strange (Baker). Daisy and Tom move to Chicago's posh East Egg (11). Daisy has everything a woman could want, a rich husband and an immaculate house. Daisy doesn't know that Tom is having an affair with Myrtle Wilson. Nick Carraway plays an important role in Daisy's love life in The Great Gatsby. Nick is Daisy's second cousin and knew Tom from college (11). Daisy invites Nick to dinner one night and that's how she finds out about Jay Gatsby again (11-17). Daisy met Gatsby at a dance in Louisville. They were madly in love with each other when he was in the army (). They intended to always be together and get married in Louisville at Daisy's house (118). Later in the story, Daisy was invited to have tea at Nick's house, but what she didn't know is that it was all Gatsby's idea to get them to rekindle their relationship....
