For this qualitative study, the following key terms are essential to the topic of the impact of spiritual leadership on the workplace. Spiritual leadership. Spiritual leadership is described as a new leadership style that focuses on the spiritual well-being of the leader, followers, and the organization (Fry & Cohen, 2009). Fry, Kisselburgh, and Butts explained spiritual leadership as a relational and transformative process that translates self, others, and organizations (as cited in Nicolae et al., 2013). The leader's actions, mindset, and beliefs intrinsically inspire self and others, increasing spiritual well-being through vision, hope/faith, selfless love, meaning/calling, and belonging. Effective leadership performance has traditionally been defined by financial measures and extrinsic motivators such as monetary rewards. However, spiritual leadership broadens the way leadership effectiveness is measured to include non-financial measures such as increased employee productivity, engagement, retention, growth, and decreased absenteeism (Fry & Cohen, 2009). Creating a sense of community, appreciation and genuine interest between leaders and followers, while making a difference, is key to achieving this. Spiritual leadership produces a culture in which the spiritual needs of the individual and the leader are met, cultivated, and valued (Yusof & Tahir, 2011). This leadership style fosters empowerment, creativity, higher levels of personal and professional satisfaction, and improved health (Fry & Cohen, 2009). Additionally, spiritual leaders teach self-government and self-awareness. Leadership performance.
