Topic > Biofuels - 1216

In recent years, environmental problems, in particular the use of fossil fuels, have become one of the most debated topics. It is widely known that fossil fuels are non-renewable resources and that their use harms the environment, such as the process of burning fossil fuels leading to global warming. However, current societies still depend on fossil fuels. Due to environmental problems and in order to reduce the wide-ranging consumption of fossil fuels, research supports that agricultural fuel or biofuel is an alternative to replace fossil fuels and apply them as a new energy source. In general, biofuels are fuels produced predominantly from biorenewable or renewable feedstocks, such as corn, sugarcane, wheat, and so on. There are many types of biofuels and each country develops different types. For example, Brazil produces sugarcane-based biofuels. Global development of biofuels is necessary; however, the effectiveness and sustainability of biofuels compared to fossil fuels should be addressed. This essay states that the use of biofuels in the world is not a viable alternative to fossil fuels because it encounters difficulties and brings disadvantages in the future. The arguments against biofuels that will be evaluated concern social structure, economic development and production costs, as well as arguments regarding agriculture and the environment. First, an important issue that should be considered is the use of combustible biofuels and the problems posed in the social structure. Since biofuels benefit the environment, biofuel production and the fuel market will grow rapidly; therefore, resource availability is an important factor....... half of the paper... and nitrous oxide in the atmosphere, which are associated with greenhouse gases and have a three hundred times greater effect on global warming (Cockerill & Martin, 2008; Murphy, 2009). In conclusion, the development of biofuels as a valid alternative to replace fossil fuels is not yet promising. Although biofuels are obtained from renewable resources, biofuels are not effective enough due to the resulting disadvantages, such as reduced food, production expenses and environmental inconveniences. Due to the difficulties and disadvantages that arise from the widespread use of biofuels, biofuel management and policies are needed as solutions to achieve a well-managed agricultural supply so that it has sustainable production; Likewise, large-scale production of biofuels should be postponed until suitable solutions are discovered.
