A Nobel Peace Prize winning philosopher named Albert Schweitzer once stated that although we may not have control over our destiny, we can be assured that happiness can be achieved specifically through service. Community service is voluntary work performed by individuals or organizations without being paid. It is done with the aim of giving back to the society and building the community. As a young person, I think it is very important for my generation to participate in community service, especially here in Malaysia. In my opinion, community service is vital in providing a platform for young people to promote positive changes in their lives and the lives of others. Nonprofit organizations need volunteers in various locations to provide the manpower needed to perform services. Young people will, first and foremost, be exposed to other people's life circumstances. This, in turn, will help or bring about an inner change that will act as a catalyst for positive progress in the world.
