The sport of hockey has existed for over 200 years. Hockey is unlike any other sport because the regulated rules allow for much more physicality and contact. Many people argue that hockey is too physical and it's only a matter of time before it becomes fatal. When hockey players start playing the sport, they push their parents to achieve greatness. I believe hockey is one of the best sports in the world and physical activity is part of this sport. I also believe that hockey parents take the sport a little too far and lose control when they force their children to get better at the sport. While most forms of fighting are reprehensible, when they take place on ice and in a controlled environment it is necessary for the sport to thrive. Moving on from the ice I believe the hockey lifestyle can be pushed to the extremes. There are many rules surrounding the sport of hockey. Many of the rules are to ensure that all players are safe when taking part in the sport. Although they were created to protect players, many rules are controversial; most of the rules are made to protect players from concussions and many people argue that fighting should not be allowed because it can also cause a concussion as well as any other hit on the ice. People say that if fighting never took place in the NHL, the rate of head injuries would plummet. People who argue this have usually never played the sport or have not been into the sport for a long period of time. If they had ever experienced this sport firsthand, they would realize that fighting is the key to the sport and is a lot of fun for the fans. If fighting was banned within the sport, I believe many hardcore f...... middle of paper ...... make their players better, then in my opinion parents should have more influence positive about their children. (Parents Fight) Hockey is one of the most physical sports in America, but I firmly believe that fighting should be regulated for all player safety and well-being, but not eliminated completely; I also believe that fighting should be allowed at a mature level in a sport like college hockey. Players must be taught from an early age that violence must remain on the ice. Coming off the ice I believe that parents need to be more mature and set a good example for their children; otherwise, it may result in the child violently bursting on and off the ice. Although hockey is not a perfect sport, I believe that with a little improvement from the players and fans it could be much more popular and even watched on a larger scale.
